Domaine Exeterra

Florence Kachelhoffer spent more than ten years working for other Alsace estates before starting her own.
 

In 2021 she took over 1.5 hectares of vines on the slopes of the Rittersberg in Scherwiller, in the Bas-Rhin, the start of what would become Domaine Exeterra, officially founded in 2022 but twenty years in the making. Since then the domaine has grown, with old vines, some 70 years old, acquired in Nothalten and Blienschwiller.
 

Her husband Boris, vineyard manager at a biodynamic estate, farms the 2.5 hectares organically and biodynamically alongside her.
 

Florence's approach starts in the vineyard, observing the vines closely and adapting each task to the season, while building an environment where plants and animals can thrive together. She has planted around fifty melliferous trees and shrubs and installed a beehive among the vines on the Rittersberg.
 

In the cellar she intervenes as little as possible, aiming for wines that reflect the vines they came from, with only the smallest dose of sulphites when needed.
