Cesca Daniele
Piemonte, Monferrato, France

Daniele Cesca founded his estate in 2016, on rented land in the hills of Moncalvo, in the Monferrato, starting from parcels that had been left uncultivated for years.

His love of wine came from his grandparents, who passed down to him the values tied to working the land, and it's their memory that runs through the whole project: nearly every cuvée is named after a family member, la Nonna, Il Nonno, Nonna Rina, Nonno Aldo. At the centre of it all is Slarina, an old, nearly forgotten Piemontese grape variety that Daniele set out to bring back and show off to a wider audience.

The vines sit on the Collina dei Cappuccini, farmed organically and naturally, with a small vegetable garden alongside grown the same way. Everything is fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and aged in steel, with barely any sulphites added, usually under 25mg.

His motto, "dalla terra fino al tuo cuore", from the earth to your heart, sums up the whole approach: small parcels, old grapes and a genuine family story bottled up together.
