Domaine Martin Jund

Domaine Martin Jund has been rooted in the heart of Colmar for close to five centuries.

The Jund family, originally from Austria, settled in Colmar at the start of the 16th century and
turned to winemaking soon after. The family name first appears in the written record in 1630,
in a Colmar chronicle noting a particularly long bunch of grapes found by one Martin Jund in
nearby Wettolsheim.
 

Fourteen generations later, the domaine is still in Jund hands, farming 18 hectares of vines
around Colmar. The holdings take in some of Alsace's finest terroirs: Brand in Turckheim,
Schlossberg in Kientzheim, Kaefferkopf in Ammerschwihr and Marckrain in Bennwihr.
 

The family has been farming organically since 1997, long before it became fashionable, and the
wines, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Muscat among them, carry that same quiet, unshowy
character.

Alongside the wine, the family also runs a small bed and breakfast on the domaine, looked after by Myriam and Cécile, and their two dogs.
