Bourre Piff in Leiden
Delphine herself

Delphine's journey into winemaking with her company, Bourre Pif, is marked by a blend of tenacity, craftsmanship, and a free-spirited approach to life.

Originally from Alsace, Delphine’s primary trade is as a charpentier métallique, or metal carpenter, specializing in constructing large buildings made from steel girders, such as warehouses and factories. She remains involved in this field when lucrative contracts arise.

Before venturing into winemaking, Delphine brewed beer for personal consumption and shared it with friends. It was her friends and local winemakers who suggested she try her hand at winemaking, given her success with beer. Embracing this idea, Delphine, known for her headstrong nature, committed her savings to establish Bourre Pif in May 2022.

She began as a "Nécociant," harvesting and buying Gewurztraminer from friends in Alsace who adhere to organic and biodynamic practices, and sourcing Shiraz from the South of France.

By December 2023, Delphine had acquired 2 small plots in Winzenberg (in the commune of Blienschwiller)

Pinot Noir:  0,2 acre, 40 years old,  Grand Cru Winzenberg, granite soil.
Riesling : 0,2 acre, 20 years old, , Grand Cru Wintzenberg, granite soil,

Despite having no formal winemaking training, Delphine’s philosophy centers around minimal intervention: from grape harvesting to bottling, everything is done manually without additives, filtration, or clarification—true to her principle of zero compromises.

Delphine continues to expand her winemaking knowledge through her old friend Lambert Spielmann and other winemakers like Émilien Revers, Yves Amberg, and Jeanne Gaston-Breton.

Her passion for winemaking is paralleled by her adventurous personal life.  She is also a motorcycle mechanic and loves traveling on her bike, having journeyed as far as Georgia and Mongolia.

The name "Bourre Pif" is a clever play on words, referring to both a punch (depicted by the boxing gloves in the logo) and the idea of drunkenness from wine (with "bourre" meaning drunk and "pif" slang for wine).

Delphine’s commitment to hands-on, traditional winemaking, and her adventurous spirit are evident in the character of Bourre Pif wines, making them a true reflection of her unique philosophy and lifestyle.
